2002 Summary

A snow apiary
A snowy scene in the Apiary early 2002)

2002 was the year we expanded to a second apiary and we tasted success in the local honey show

Hive layout
We started with 6 hives Our main three hives and the surviving three swarms from 2001

Six hives is much too great a number of hives we enlisted Lynns help to ask one of her friends who owns a wood near the village of Flaxton if we could set-up a second apiary. The removal of two of the bee-hives eased our congestion!

By the end of the year we had a fair sized crop of the best part of 100lbs of honey. We even entered the local beekeepers honey show and we astonished to find our beginners luck resulted in second prize overall. Not bad for first timers: We can now say we produce Prize winning Honey!
