Summary 2008

Easter Snow
Easter Snow

A mild January was followed by snow in March and it snowed at Easter. This is very bad for the bees. One hive had not survived the bad Winter, so we only had two hives at the Monk Stray apirary and two small colonies at Flaxton.

Early inspection
A Spring Inspection

The cold Spring was followed by a wet Summer. It meant that the bees seemed to stop making Honey by the end of July.

Two swarms meant that we ended the year with three hives at Monk Stray. We do not know the state of the Flaxton bees as we have not had chance to check them out.

Only two supers were collected this year. Not much of a honey crop for 2008.
