1st Heworth Scout Group offers scouting to young people in the Heworth and Tang Hall areas of York. If you are thinking about joining scouts we hope this website will answer all your questions, whether new to the area, or just looking for something different to do where you can make new friends.

We have three sections catering for children aged 6-14. - And not forgetting the adults. We are always on the lookout for additional leaders and adult helpers. See our About 1st Heworth section for more information.

Beavers Cubs Scouts

1st Heworth (3rd York) held its first meeting in December 1919 and was registered with the Scout Association in January 1920. The third Scout Group to be formed in York. Whilst the two Groups senior to Heworth have either moved out of York or folded Heworth is still here and can rightly call itself Yorks oldest Group still serving its original community. Today we have three sections Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who meet in our own hut on Bad Bargain Lane York.

2019/2020 will see us celebrate our 100th anniversary and a series of camps and activities are planned to celebrate this achievement. During the years many hundreds of children and adults must have passed through 1st Heworth. Does anyone out there have memories/photographs of their time at Heworth. We would love to hear from you.
